10 Years Old Today

What a milestone, double figures, my first child to reach double figures.  We have had a day full of excitement, and the biggest party ever which will probably go on for another couple of days to come.

The other day, my youngest daughter described herself as being the Queen of Life, well today it was Ruby's turn to be the Queen of life.  Throughout her struggles this year, she has just continued to blossom into the beautiful young lady you see here.  I love you Ruby, and I am proud of the person within.

A Change of Pace / Canberra Child Photographer

Christmas parties just seem to be starting earlier and earlier every year, which I am not complaining about (I love Chrissy parties), but life kinda spins out of control temporarily.  I am also left wondering what on earth happened to the other 11 months of the year.  People always have told me to enjoy my kids whilst they are little, because they are little for such a short time.  Well I get it now.

This little - or not so little girl is growing up before my eyes.

1.  I have arachnophobia.  Not the little spiders or daddy long legs, I can deal with them, it's the big hairy ones.  I once nearly had a major car accident because I pulled down the sunvisor in the car, and a huntsman spider fell into my lap.

2.  I yearn to live in France for 1 or 2 years with my family.  I would love my children to speak French.

3.  I'm a pretty damned good cook if I don't say so myself ;-O  I get frustrated with picky eaters, and my children have had to learn to eat curries and tagines, because there are no chicken nuggets in our house.

4.  I would love love love to live on the beach (but I hate sand).

5.  We are about to renovate our house.  I am so excited (ask me if I am still excited about it in 2-3 months time).

6.  I am not a great morning person, I am a night owl.

7.  My baby starts pre-school next year - sniff sniff.  Everybody told me to enjoy my children while they were young, because they grow up just so quickly.  I am only just starting to understand this now.

Last weekend, I was lucky enough to attend Jinky's first workshop, which was held just outside of Canberra in a country town called Bungendore.  I can't tell you how much fun I had, and just how much I learned, what an awesome experience.  I also had the opportunity to meet and hangout with heaps of other photographers - what more could I ask for.

I know these guys having been itching to see their wedding pics, so here is just a sneak peek for now.  Actually, it is just the first installment, I have so many that I want to share.

These guys are truely the sweetest couple that you could ever meet, and so much in love - it was so wonderful to work with you.  I really wish you both all the very best for your future together, and my thoughts are with you during these very difficult times.

Head Down, Bum Up

I had the pleasure of photographing the most beautiful wedding 2 weeks ago, a couple that were just a delight to work with.   Their plans have been tradgically altered by the death of the grooms younger sister a week ago - I simply cannot image your grief at the moment.  My thoughts are with you right now.

If you are reading at the moment, I just wanted to let you know that I will be uploading some photos of your  wedding shortly.

and for Karen and Andrew, here are just a few pics from the other week.  It was the first real Spring day that we have had, and so wonderful to be able throw on a T-shirt and Birkenstocks and go outside.  

Andy (my husband that is) watched me empty out our bread basket in disbelief and walk out the front door with it under my arm for this shoot.   This gives you an idea of just how tiny this 2 week old baby girl is:-

I tried to pin him down for a couple of shots

but most of the time, he was like this

so we went into the forest hunting for fairies

and look what we found

I had such a lovely afternoon guys

Even fairies need a break every now and then

And it happens so rarely these days.
